I LOVED going to Copenhagen’s kitchen showrooms, seeing the latest, and very cool, design ideas. Large patterns on walls, beautiful, and textural wood grains, lots of dark charcoal or black, and white, cabinetry, these are some of the latest trends in kitchen design. I also noticed backsplashes with clear or colored glass sections positioned over painted, textured, walls, a very sleek look! Always fabulous lighting and always little splashes of color, a typical, and modern, Scandinavian touch.

House 6 comes from Studio MK27 and it is an impressive architecture project located in São Paulo, Brazil. Meant to redefine the traditional veranda area, this house is composed of two impressive rectangular building entities joined together at different ends. This way they form a charming home outdoor gallery beneath which serves as an entertainment space for the people inside. The stacked volumes are also a very original way to separate the levels of the residence. This house is as beautiful looking as it is diverse. The first floor- the one connected directly to the outdoor pool- houses the living, kitchen and dining space. Large windows provide a good relationship with the exterior and soothing views. The second floor hosts a kitchen extension, a bar and a beautiful entertainment room (the one with the TV in the photos below). How’s this for a showcase of contemporary living?

Casa Barone was designed by Widjedal Racki Bergerhoff Architects and is a makeover of an old summer house located in Ingarö-Evlinge, Sweden. The major objective when rebuilding this place was to create outdoor areas for leisure and entertainment. With this in mind, the architects decided to place the main structure to the north, leaving the rest of the site unexploited:”The biggest part of the building is dug into the slope, creating a large horizontal platform in ground level. Half of this platform is taken up by the upper floor of the building; the other half remains an open outdoor terrace in direct connection to the kitchen inside. Next to the kitchen is the living area, which, from its elevated position, faces the water view as well as the upper half of two large oak trees.The building glitters as a golden shrine penetrated with large black windows as it sits in the rocky slope in between sculptural pine trees.” Casa Barone is actually a creation studio belonging to an Italian painter and his wife. I guess you could say this is a place meant for artists.
This daring and imposing architectural project named “The Wave In Vejle” comes from Henning Larsen Architects (a Danish company) and is located in Vejle, a picturesque town in Denmark. The four connected buildings are said to be in complete tune with the characteristics of the area. The wave shape couldn’t be more suited for a town that it is defined by its hills, the fjord, the bridge and the sea. Day or night, the building creates an appealing reflection on the surface of the sea, interesting to observe while taking a walk in the area. The imposing structure houses 140 apartments, with great views of the bay. Recently the architects received the LEAF award (residential building of the year 2010) for this project which we consider to be the new landmark for Vejle and Denmark.
